Sweet mother

     Once upon a time mama gave birth to a hero, 

     Breast fed a runny nose baby, 

     One who bathed himself in faeces, 

     Yet never forsake me she did, 

     Soothed my tired and restless body to sleep, 

     Endured my cry so irritating and noisy as rolling thunder, 

     Guided my steps and showed me the right path, 

     From her sweat was I fed three square meals, 

     And to her massive efforts did I get roof over my head, 

     Placed in an educational institution and now a learned fellow I am, 

     Embedded in me the gift that forever lives, 

     The eternal gift of God fearing, 

     And now a charge to keep I have, 

     Devoted I was to my course, 

     And to realities yield all my efforts

     Thanks be my mama, 

     From whom by my creator I was made, 

     Never will praises leave my mouth, 

     Oh! My dear mum, 

     You bring back my hopes when despaired I become sometimes, 

     Stayed by my side when rejected I was by they who so call themselves my friends, 

     How ever can I show my appreciation?
